08-02-11 Meeting

The meeting took place in the’ big’ room as our usual small room was full of chairs, but as we were having our Winter Show it worked out fine we used the stage for the trees so we had plenty of room. Ray G chaired the meeting in Ray C’s absence.16 members were present and one visitor.

We have now been allocated one of the cupboards in our usual room and Ray G has fitted a lock, so we will be able to keep some club wire spare tops, books and Brewing materials in there now which will be very helpful.

We had a very successful meeting with over 20 trees on display, members voted the tree they liked the best and we had three winners: Nona with her lovely White Pine and Steve with his Lonicera Pileate and Chinese Juniper. The prize money was divided into three. The heating wasn’t working and the there was a meeting of the committee on the same night to arrange for the repair  so our night finished earlier than normal as there was no point in lingering around in the cold.

The next meeting will be the 8^th March and the topic for the evening will be a re-potting workshop so members can bring along any trees they want to work on and get advice as they go along. The meeting will be in the large room so we can spread out, lets hope they have the heating repaired by then!

Pauline had prepared some new posters with the change of the meeting date so these were handed out to members who need to exchange them for any of the old ones which have been put up in various places.

The next informal meeting will be on Monday the 21st Feb where we hope to see as many members as possible with any trees, which need work or help.
