13-09-11 Meeting

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting. There were 21 members present and the raffle raised £31 thank you to all who donated and please keep up the good work as it pays for the room.

Tree of the month was won by Ray Couldwell with his Italian Alder

We had a guest speaker for the night John Armitage. John spends at least one month a year in Japan at the TAISHO EN garden centre in SHIIZUOKA as a student. John also runs workshops and talks on Bonsai. If anyone would like to contact him his email address is: - jarmitagebonsai@hotmail.co.uk

The theme for the evening was Shohin Bonsai and John showed us a lot of slides of his time in Japan with some beautiful and very expensive trees. We had a very informative evening and John had brought some of his trees and put on a lovely display as did our Treasurer Steve. Photos are on the web site. It was a very interesting evening and our thanks to John.

The next meeting is on Tuesday the 11^th October and we will be having a talk from one of our members Leo on Penjing and landscapes!

We have arranged a coach to go to Sheffield on this Sunday the 25^th Sept, we are meeting at Hippings Vale around 9.15am to be away for 9.30 returning from Sheffield around 2.30/3 ish (to be decided) We have a 24 seater coach booked but at the moment we have 16 people with a possible three more on the day, if we stay at 16 it will be £12.50 per person.
