Weekend Summer Show at Barton Grange Garden Centre
on Sat 6th and Sun 7th August 2011
This was a very successful two day show and thank you to Ray our events coordinator and his wife Joan for all the hard work they put into the organizing of the weekend
The room at Barton was as always excellent, green carpet and backgrounds with black table covers, which set our trees off very well. We set up on Friday afternoon the 5th and it took us the best part of the afternoon.
John Barnes from Wyndcote Bonsai was also there; he was selling some small trees various pots and other bonsai equipment. We also had our own sales table. The theme of the show was ‘Bonsai for All’ and the demonstration trees were taken from Barton Grange stock so that the public could see how to create a bonsai tree from ordinary everyday plants.
The demonstrations on both days were very well attended and a lot of interest was shown, Ray our chairman performed the demonstration on the Saturday with Ray again and John Barnes on the Sunday. I think we sparked a lot of interest and enthusiasm for our lovely hobby. Barton Grange organised a raffle for the trees used in the demonstrations
We also ran our Annual Summer Show at the same time and Nigel McLean kindly agreed to judge them for us, the winners of the various categories’ are: -
Best Deciduous – Pauline
Best Conifer - Ray C
Best Group - Nona
Best Mame - Trish
Best in Show - Pauline
The weekend proved highly successful I think all the members enjoyed it and we hope the public did! We would like to say a big thank you to Barton Grange for hosting our show and we hope to go back next year if they will have us!
Also a big thank you to all our members for the time and hard work they put into a very successful weekend.
