The show at the Read Garden Centre on the 2/3rd May proved very successful and we would like thank staff and management for their support and help.
There was a lot of interest shown by the public and we hope to recruit some new members for our small but friendly club.
The selection of trees on display was very good as we had been a little worried that not all the trees we wanted to display would be ready due the harsh winter and cold spring but we did very well. The Crab apples and one Azalea being in full bloom and beautiful they set off the display perfectly and the accent plants showed the full scope of the display from one extreme to the other.
The black staging material was very effective and the stands which Ray G made showed off the trees perfectly, we had bamboo backing held in place with clamps designed especially for the job and the whole display was very professional and a big thank you to all our members and their families for all their hard work.
We had a competition for a cup in the name of Don one of our founder members who has had a stroke and this was judged by the public who voted for the tree they liked the best, Ray our chairman won with his lovely Japanese Katsura Maple. All our team members looked very smart in the newly designed Team Tops and I think I speak for all our members when I say we had a very good show and thoroughly enjoyed chatting to the public about our beautiful trees and unusual hobby.
